CdO Bloggers' 13th Year Anniversary Celebration

At 7pm tonight we celebrated our blogging organization's 13 year anniversary.
We had fun. There were games and prizes and surprises.
It was nice to see each other even virtually.
And what's a celebration without food? I have Dodo's Binangkal all the way from Purok 1, Indulang Talakag Bukidnon and whole chicken inasal from Timya's Lechon Manok. Of course, what's a celebration without ice cream? We have Cornetto Chocolate Ice Cream from Aguilar store.
Because it was a virtual celebration, each of us bought food from loval businesses to help promote and encourage people to buy from them.
This is part of the Support Local project of the group.

I enjoyed the night and received P 500 from one of the raffles, Thanks to our sponsor, Geiser Maclang. Muji Home also gave away 3 gift vouchers of P 500 each. I would have loved a classy Nordic Christmas with Muji Home Nordic Christmas decors, but I wasn't fortunate to win one of the GCs.

It was nice celebrating and remembering how our group started and now have grown.

Thank you CdO Bloggers and congratulations... 13 is a good number.

Our Dogs

We have four dogs now. Three puppies and one 9 year-old. The two puppiew are at home while these two are here with me in our farm. Not fully developed but we're getting there.

Here we have a fishpond, Dragon fruits, some vegetables and flowering plants, as well  as fruit trees like Jackfruit, Marang, Santol and many others. We also have Rabbits and Turkey that I am personally taking care of.

Whenever I go to feed the Turkeys, I take the dogs with me because there are snakes everywhere, the farm had been their territory eversince. Our dogs have become my best guard and weapon, so to speak. At night they are by my door guarding me as I sleep.

Now about our dogs. Mishka is my brother's dog so when he left for New Zealand, she stayed with my parents and the whole family loves her. The two puppies at home are from my baby brother's friend. He asked for one but I asked if I could have one too. My companion here supposedly. So he was given two. (I will edit this post when I have a pic of the two)

Dodgie was a stray along with his siblings. They were abandoned, abused and rescued by my cousin and her boyfriend. I adopted Dodgie when the puppies from my baby brother's friend didn't arrive yet. He was at first aloof and then later on got clingy. Sweet dog. Here in the farm he and Mishka gets along well. Although sometimes during play, they both have a tendency to hurt each other.

I am sometimes frustrated with these two because they are sometimes mischievous and hard headed, but often I am glad they are here with me.

Thank you Universe

Live Safe Now with Defensil Isopropyl Alcohol

        A picture containing text

Description automatically generatedComCo Southeast Asia - New PR • Smart Social

Defensil Isopropyl Alcohol encourages Filipinos to live safe with many establishments slowly re-opening and allowing people to resume their pre-pandemic lifestyles.

Syempre may pangamba parin kahit papano kaya dala nalang tayo ng Defensil Isopropyl Alcohol palagi. I have been staying away since namamalagi ako dito sa farm, but everytime umuuwi kami, baon ko palagi Defensil.

With the nationwide vaccination program in full force, Filipinos can slowly enjoy various activities such as more dining options as well as doing physical activities by going to the gym. However, health experts continue to remind everyone to not let their guards down even as we gradually go back to normal.

As there are reports of new and potentially more contagious variants, everyone must remain vigilant through following established health protocols and getting vaccinated so we can all continue to live safe and prevent the cases from surging again.

That’s why when we do essential errands such as buying groceries, exercising outdoors, or simply going outside, disinfecting your hands and any surface you interact with goes a long way to ensure living safely for you and your family.

One way to prevent the spread of the virus is by always carrying a trusted rubbing alcohol brand that contains at least 70& alcohol solution whenever you go outdoors.

Of course, don't forget to wear mask, faceshield and do the proper hand washing every so often, kahit nasa labas. Di bale na sabihan ka o tawaging "Banyo Queen" or "Banyo King"  basta naka hugas ng kamay.  At magalcohol syempre.

Defensil 70% Solution Isopropyl Alcohol, the alcohol recommended by the Philippine Society for Microbiology (PSM), can kill 99.9% of common germs and bacteria starts to kill them on contact so that you can safely do the activities you love wherever you are. Defensil also provides up to 12 hours of protection upon constant use so that you are protected and do activities with ease.

Don't worry, Defensil won't dry your skin. Kaya para sakin, Defensil pipiliin ko talaga.

Skin dryness from too frequent sanitizing will also not be a worry as Defensil has moisturizing properties and is hypoallergenic, giving you one less thing to worry about when going indoors.

"We are 100% behind the government in their efforts to prevent further spread of the virus. Defensil encourages everyone to remain vigilant now more than ever and do our part in this fight towards eventually resuming our normal way of life by adhering to social Distancing and sanitation protocols, especially when doing essential errands outdoors," shared Nikko Cruz, Brand Manager of Defensil Isopropyl Alcohol.

For more information on how to stay protected, you may visit the Defensil Isopropyl Alcohol’s Facebook page at facebook.com/defensil.philippines.

Defensil 70% Isopropyl Alcohol was tested against Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhimurium, Escherichia coli or E. coli and Candida albicans.

Teacher to Gardener/Farmer and some realizations

From teaching, I am now a farmer. Yes, although smalltime, it's still considered farming. A beginner who needs to learn the ropes double time. Been here for almost 3 months straight but we've been visiting since May. I have my small vegetable garden of Blue Pumpkin, Giant Pumpkin and Pinoy Kalabasa, 3 kinds of Okra, 3 kinds of Chili's, Chayote, Cucumber, Ampalaya and fruits and berries like Strawberry l, Raspberry, Tomatillo Physalis and many others. My parents have also the Dragon Fruits here as well as our fishpond. I have my Turkey, Rabbits and hopefully soon, Ducks.

We are new at this so we are learning. People here love to share ideas and constantly entice my father to go into planting corn so they can do the work in its entirety. Not a bad idea, but I personally don't approve. At least to protect my father. But who knows, he might give in.

Since I started living here, I have come to realize that people in the city and in the "bukid" are all the same. Some (not all, but most ) people think you have so much money, you become a target for all business proposals that will benefit them, and you, the source of their income. If you give an inch of inkling to boost your ego and you give in, you are bound to be dependent on them, which is what they want, so you can play by their rules and not yours. So I keep my distance from these kinds. I hire people to do a job or two for the farm, but when I feel they're pushing some buttons, I tell them I'll call when I need them because I don't have money to pay them if they continue. True to some point of course, but even if I have the budget, I will stop hiring such kinds of people to spare myself or our family, the problems that I foresee. Better to protect myself/ourselves before it'll be too late.

Anyway, here's a video I shared on my YouTube channel of our first week here.

14th Place is Already Something.. I Am Grateful..

In the recent blogging contest that I joined in, I wrote that I am one of the Top 40 finalists.. Last August 28 was the final awarding, and I am happy to share that my blog entry landed on the 14th spot..

This is truly something that I didn't  pray for, to be honest because writing about my story has allowed me to release anxieties that has relieved me and destressed me. It was already a winning moment to be able to bravely write about things you couldn't  even tell anyone. Posting it has already made me a winner.

Thank you so much ComCo Southeast Asia for coming up with this empowering contest.

Thanks also to all the sponsors and supporters.

The greatest part is that there are beneficiaries that will receive help for each of their projects that will greatly affect the lives of the people they will help..

Somehow, I can say that this Write to Ignite Blogging Contest has a domino effect of good deeds. Something our world needs right now..

So to all the people who painstakingly took the time to read my very long emotion-filled blog, thank you so much  for leaving comments of encouragement and love. I truly appreciate  that very much..

Thank you..
Thank you...
Thank you..

Confidently Fully Vaxed

Last Sunday, August 1, I had a jab done. I am so happy because it only took 1 dose and I am fully vaxed. It's Janssen by Johnson and Johnson's so only 1 dose was done.

Here is a link on YouTube for the entire experience.

Thank you Universe, I am now confident to face the world. But of course, we shouldn't put our guards down especially now that Covid 19 is mutating. Mask, face shield, disinfection, protection, boost immune system. And lastly, think positive all the time.

Dear Survivor, It's Nice To See You're Smiling Again...

Dear Survivor,

How are you? No one ever asks that question anymore. Some do ask, but they'd just ask because they're just curios.  And if you try to tell people, they attack you for being negative or for simply feeling unwell. Feels like you are fighting this battle alone, don't you? So I am asking you instead. How are you?

In Myanmar, whenever you are asked that question, you always felt awkward telling truths about discomfort or of being unhappy or sad. Why was that? You always wanted people to think that you are okay, even though most of the time, you were not. Although you are honest in most aspects, it's the "How are you?" questions that you feel needed a positive answer. So right now, can you honestly say you are not okay?  Or, would you still tell people that everything's fine and that, you are coping. Hmmm..

It has been more than 2 months since you were repatriated from Myanmar due to the unrest under the military rule. The pandemic didn't scare you that much, although your salary and benefits suffered a lot due to low enrolment brought about by it, but because you stayed home most of the time,  it was safer to stay in, and budget was also bearable, you never complained. In fact, you considered it still a blessing to have income in a crucial time. But the military takeover last February 1 drove you to leave your second home and come back to the country with almost nothing. It was a scary and heart breaking time in Myanmar, you cried everyday and every night, for fear, and with all the deaths and killings of innocent lives. Waking up to nearby shootings and the noise when the military use guns, and tear gas to disperse the people who fought for their democracy day in, day out. You were scared for your Burmese brothers and sisters, but couldn't do anything to help them. Coming home was the safest option. Everything and everyone is monitored, even until now. Communications were cut off during the night and in the morning you hear news of kidnappings and killings, buildings being burned. There was a time you were afraid your family wouldn't be able to contact you as Internet and phone lines were cut. No one monitored the COVID situation for a time, and people were dying by the gun. Traumatic for them, so much for you who can't help, or do anything to make their voices heard. How are you with that?

You said you're going to jump to another country but first you needed to renew your licenses and prepare new sets of documents and make sure your daughter can also transition well to Senior High School before you leave again. You liked being an OFW for the salary you can't get in the Philippines plus the perks and benefits of being a foreign teacher  that it's the best option you'd always choose, but you said you will not go back until you have prepared everything. You said you're going to focus on online teaching first and do freelance work while you wait for your next departure. You have revived blogging and ventured on to vlog in YouTube. Perhaps make it monetized and earn from it too. Well it isn't too late.

But then everything didn't work out the way you hoped they would. The house was too noisy, even noise cancelling microphones wouldn't work so you kept postponing your demo. Starting over in blogging is strange these days, and vlogging? Your subscribers are still way below the required.  Deployment and movement of OFWs are at a stand still due to travel and border restrictions! Plus,  await the schedule for vaccination. Ha! Savings have now been depleted, loans and insurance need payments, you end up thinking of ways to make things work. Overthinking right into panic's door.

So last June 11, this happened to your face.
Bell's Palsy.. You dealt with it with your  parent's help, mostly their care and their money because you have nothing anymore. Medication, doctors' fees and rehabilitation are shouldered by them. Good thing you have siblings that care too. They made things comfortable for you. Oh how you felt ashamed, and worried because your senior citizen parents are also dealing with their own medical maintenance. You are supposed to give them comfort, and not be a burden to them. You always cringed at the thought of people being dependent on their families or the government, yet here you are, penniless like a beggar and helpless like a scared cat.
You can't speak properly, lisping most times, can't pronounce words correctly, can't smile like before. Can't move forward with your online teaching plans. Can you say you are still okay? Most times you cry without tears, and at times tears fall without you crying. But on the outside, you laugh..

Are you really sure you are still okay?

You gather yourself together, find means to earn, with your mother lending you a small capital, that you started to venture into selling Black Rice, Salted Eggs (Itlog Maalat), Dragon Fruit, then decided to make use of unsold fruits and made them into Dragon Fruit Jam to sell.

A little squeeze of creative juices here and there, until they get sold.

But your hard work came back badly knocking you out, and instead of you getting better, your Bell's Palsy has reversed healing. Oh no!

You are a mother so you assist your daughter in her scholarship application for Senior High School, and you read her scholarship application essay and cry your heart out... Is this the work of a 15 year old? She was when she wrote this,  she's turned 16, 3 days ago.

Oh how you felt sorry that your daughter feels she is in dire need of the scholarship because you have nothing to spend for her education at this point in time. Hurts like hell, doesn't it? You ask yourself what kind of parent you are for making her go through this. Are you still saying you are okay?

Now, now. I think you are weighing things much more heavily than you should. Your daughter is smart like you, and a survivor too. This is a phase in her life that will shape her and prepare her for the bigger world you want her to conquer. She'll be fine. She'll excel as she always have. Don't feel sorry, don't feel bad. Your daughter's understanding of your situation is deeper than anyone can fathom. That is her strength.

So, Dear Survivor, stop!

Just stop! Accept that you are not okay and deal with it!

It's time to give yourself time to heal. You haven't really rested, as both your doctors ordered. You're stressing things out and it's taking a toll on your health, mentally, physically, psychologically and if I am not mistaken, your spirit is drowning too. Save yourself. You are the only one who can!

Where is the fighter that you once were? But in order to fight, you need strength. Where is the person who always makes sure she wins? But in order to win, you have to be okay. Where is that smile that brightens everyone else's day? Bell's Palsy may just make you smile differently, but your eyes twinkle every time you do, so it has nothing to do with the mouth area. Besides, with a mask on, no one notices anything but the smile in your eyes.

Dear Survivor, take this time not as a downtime to wallow in self pity and give in to depression, but take this as a time to replenish your energy. Think of this as a vacation. A halt. A temporary phase. You always said everything in life is temporary, so why not think that way now? Give in to healing. Everything that you feel you've lost will surely come back. Money will come. Your life will be in balance again. But you have to take this time to fully heal...

Dear Survivor,  don't just survive! Win this battle! Because you can! You always have, you always will!

Much Love,

Mommy Dharlz

<3

Dear Mommy Dharlz,

You have read this blog post over and over, and cried buckets of tears reading every word. How are you now?

Self

<3

Dear Survivor,

Yes, I have cried an ocean as I read through each word I posted. Everything I have written was personal, but I didn't care who've read the blog anymore. I felt liberated. I read through all the comments and I am glad I have let go of these feelings that has burdened me. I am better. I am ready to heal.

I saw my two doctors this morning, and for the first time since my Bell's Palsy started, I could say I am ready to focus on my healing. My mother and I had a heart to heart talk in the car while my father was out, and for the first time also, I saw through her, the loving woman that she is, always ready to assist me, whatever happens in my life. The same love I have for my daughter.

I am glad I did this.

Thank you Universe.

Mommy Dharlz

<3

Dear Survivor,

There is nothing that worries me anymore. Perhaps I felt overwhelmed by the situation because this is the first time in my life that I have felt useless, and a burden. Looking at how the world is suffering right now, and how everyone is dealing with losses brought about by the pandemic, I didn't want to be someone who will add to the misery of people, especially not to my loved ones. That was perhaps what's bothered me. Well... That's hardcore over thinking. Ha! A battle within thyself.

So congratulations dear survivor, you have finally broken the chain that has bound you, and hindered you to move forward with your healing.

Let me remind you of what you have accomplished even with Bell's Palsy. You continue to care for your family in the chores that you do. Cooking for them with love, when you can. Oh how they enjoy your delicious meals.

That's not being a burden, you still contribute in the best way you can.

And just recently you, as the president of your "clan", organized a 3 day online Pass-the-hat for a relative in Manila who passed away. You were able to collect P 35,000 from relatives abroad and in the country, with constant monitoring, that the bereaved family hasn't stopped thanking you for organizing it, and helping them through the toughest time in their lives.
See? Is that someone who is useless and a burden? Plus, you have started to capitalize on your other skills to make money. Isn't that something?

Anyway, I am happy you have finally come to your senses.

Enjoy your vacation dear survivor. Everything will work out fine once you have healed.

Lastly, give yourself a pat on your shoulder. Thank you for always trying, no matter what.

Thank you. Thank you..Thank you..

Love you always,

Mommy Dharlz

CHED and REX Education recognize model HEIs’ flexible learning and innovations through Gawad Edukampyon Awards 2021

In a time of great difficulty and challenges not just for the education sector but for the whole country, many schools and educators rose to the task to continue providing holistic and enriching learning for students throughout the country. It’s time for these heroic efforts to take the spotlight and be acknowledged.

The Gawad Edukampyon Awards 2021 was created for this very purpose: to celebrate innovations and excellence by higher education institutions (HEIs) during the most challenging time in recent history, and bring together educators and institutions to create, refine, and implement innovative programs suited to create better and sustainable learning in the 21st century’s new normal of education.

Launched in January 30, 2021 by Rex Education and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), in partnership with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), the Gawad Edukampyon Awards 2021 is driven by CHED’s #WeLearnAsOne Bayanihan efforts and Rex Education’s Edukampyon advocacy.

“I encourage all HEIs to join the Gawad Edukampyon and showcase your innovations. It is during these challenging times that we must empower and inspire each other, draw strength and learn from one another,” said CHED Chairperson Prospero “Popoy” De Vera.

Flexible learning is here to stay

Rex Education has always rallied behind the Edukampyon advocacy, which calls for the involvement of the whole community and all education duty-bearers to ensure all students are Filipino Whole Learners—healthy, safe, engaged, supported, challenged, and values-oriented inside and outside their learning environments. This has become especially important and relevant given the context and changes in education in the new normal, where flexible learning has become a more viable modality for the years to come.

“[There is] no going back to the traditional, full-packed, face-to-face classrooms. The Commission has adopted a policy that flexible learning will continue in the school year 2021 and thereafter,” said De Vera. This statement comes after the release of CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 04, series 2020, “Guidelines on the Implementation of Flexible Learning,” which also presents flexible learning as a sustainable system that should be part of every school’s Learning Continuity Plan (LCP).

Given the new investments of many HEIs in technology, teacher training, and retrofitting of facilities to adapt with flexible learning, and with this modality already long-adapted by many universities across the globe, it only makes sense for institutions to embrace the new landscape that flexible learning brings. This adaptability and learner-centered approach to education has always been at the core of Edukampyon, which—through the many studies and real-world applications it draws from—argues that learning should not just be delivered from the classroom curriculum, but from the whole community and through every possible learning moment.

“The Edukampyon agenda lobbies that as members of the community, everyone is part of this learner-centered solution, and are thus duty bearers morally obliged to support initiatives that will benefit our learners. We acknowledge that the efforts to realize the vision of Edukampyon is continuously growing. We may be at the very first steps of this years-long movement. But taking the first step is always the most crucial moment in every revolution. With the help of every HEI and of everyone, we hope that this first step leads to a march where we create more programs and campaigns that would allow us to be champions for the Whole Filipino Learner. And we hope Gawad Edukampyon Awards 2021 will lead that way,” said Don Timothy Buhain, CEO of Rex Education.

Award categories and prizes

There are four categories under the Gawad Edukampyon Awards. Each category will be awarded to the school who has implemented a project or initiative that best exemplifies excellence in the particular field and has been demonstrated during the pandemic.

The Gawad Edukampyon for Excellence in Flexible and Responsive Management is an award to be given to HEIs who created policies or specific projects and practices that ensured the continuity of education, as well as the health, safety, and well-being of students, faculty, staff and school-community during times of disruption. This includes efforts that set a clear framework and system for the transition and integration of flexible learning approaches, excellent and strategic leadership and management, and innovative management approaches that provided tangible support to the staff and students’ well-being especially during pandemic.

The Gawad Edukampyon for Excellence in Flexible Teaching and Learning Innovation is an award to be given to HEIs with exemplary innovative and adaptive learning approaches and solutions, including innovative platforms, tools, pedagogies, and appropriate learning assessments; efforts to promote learner-centered teaching; technology-enhanced or arts-based learning; setting up mobile open online courses (MOOCs); or creating significant reforms in the curriculum to accommodate the changes in the delivery of learning.

The Gawad Edukampyon for Responsive Research and Development is an award to be given to HEIs with outstanding research and development of products that significantly contributed to the community through research and materials dissemination to other LGUs or other HEIs, as well
as researches that have been used as an input to public policy or adopted into a local community project, and case assessments or action-research that can improve the government’s COVID-19 response.

The Gawad Edukampyon for Public Service and Community Engagement is an award given to HEIs with outstanding outreach projects that alleviated challenges experienced by their community because of COVID-19. This includes those that have increased community resilience or improved response to the pandemic and communication campaigns that have engaged the community or resulted to transformative decision-making.

Two winners will be awarded for each category—one from the public sector and another from the private sector. Each award category winner will receive a cash prize and an educational resources package worth P200,000. The narratives of all winners will be featured in the Rex Education-led publication, Padayon.

How to join

All HEIs who wish to participate in the Gawad Edukampyon Awards can now submit their letter of intent (LOI) signed by the HEI head or authorized representative to edukampyonsecretariat@gmail.com with the subject heading “The Screening Committee, Gawad Edukampyon 2021”. The deadline of submission of LOI is on June 4, 2021.

For the full mechanics on how to join, and to access the forms, application information, and other updates, you may visit Gawad Edukampyon on Facebook, head to the link bit.ly/GawadEdukampyon, or contact the Gawad Edukampyon secretariat at edukampyonsecretariat@gmail.com or 0956-812-3896.

Happy Monday

It's been awhile that I have posted an entry. Been busy doing things, thinking of so many things, and doing webinars mostly teacher related and agricultural related. I guess in the next few months this teacher will become a farmer. Ha! Let's just wait and see.

I am also doing more videos for my You Tube channel, and preparing my mind and body for the long awaited vaccination. I still think of Myanmar every so often, and I missed everything and everyone.  I can only pray harder that they win back their democracy.
Till next post. I will be sharing some of the things I learned in my webinars.

My Young Living Journey Begins

I signed up for Young Living days before repatriation from Myanmar. When I arrived in the Philippines, it was only the time when I made payment during quarantine, because my enroller paid it while I was not able to process anything bank related back there. Banks were closed due to the unrest, and we couldn't do online banking because we had limited internet connection, which when we have it, was very slow.

And it was only a few days ago that I had been able to do an unboxing of my YL PSK for my YouTube Channel, Mommy Dharlz. Below is the video, please watch it,

If you are interested to be part of my team, please leave me a message.

7 Day Quarantine + Swab Test

Today is the 5th day of our quarantine, and this morning we had our swab test. It was a first for me, so I had been really anxious about it many days ago, and especially yesterday. Now that it's over, I feel better. I just need to think positively of the result, which is NEGATIVE - covidwise, lol..

Our government has set up a new system where we can easily check our results and get the certificate of result.

So this morning we had the swab test, but it hasn't reached the lab yet.

When there is a result already, we will easily know... So when we have the result, I guess we can already go home. Then I will be with my family.

Finally HOME!

We just arrived, and finally, settled in our quarantine facility. The people from OWWA and Philippine Coast Guard are taking care of us here now. But I want to commend the hard work that the Philippine Embassy in Myanmar have also put into bringing us all home, OFWs and Non OFWs.

Such a tiring two day travel, from Mandalay to Yangon and Yangon then here in Manila. But, thank you UNIVERSE, all is well now. I cried twice in this journey. First when we were approaching Yangon International Airport, and then when the plane landed in Manila International Airport. It's a mix of emotion leaving behind your home for almost 4 years, and coming home to your very own country. I guess it's because I haven't been home since last year, summer, October and December, unlike the previous years that I had a chance to go home 3 time a year.

Well, this will be a new adventure. I am glad I have set up my blogs again so I can freelance online as I wait for my next country of destination.

Until we meet again friends in Myanmar. Please stay safe.

Birthday Donation Fundraising Thru Online Garage Sale and Previous Donations

I am pleased to announce that we have wrapped up our birthday donation fundraising through Online Garage Sale, and we are now ready to hand over 125,000 MMK and $10. Such a small amount, but it's heartily given from the sales of our items. I am grateful for Teacher Grace as she shared 50% of the sales of some of her items, that's 19000 in total. She will also be donating her unsold items, together with us, to  The Way Station Vineyard.

Previously, we have shared 2 sacks of Paw San Rice to  the beneficiary of the HCIS English Speaking Competition, Heal The Kids Burma.

And of course, during the Project X Competition of the same school, we have also donated both to the winners of the contest, as well as to the beneficiary of the said competition.

For the Project X 2020 contest winners, we donated magnifying glass for all winners, plus 1st place winners received extra gift items in their bag.

For the Aung Thuka Foundation orphanage, we donated school supplies, Math counters, English books and flash cards, colored pens and markers.

These 3 donations that we have participated in here in Myanmar, are truly life changing. It is in times when we don't have much to give that we have the desire to give because we know it is the only way we can help ease the burdens of others who are suffering. It doesn't matter how much... The important thing is we have given something along with our hearts...

Thank you Universe for these opportunities.

Celebrating Valentines Day

There is a need for us to celebrate today. Amidst the trials and challenges that the country, and the people are facing, we, the guests of this beautiful country are somehow affected too. We stay indoors for our safety and security and with COVID 19 and everything else, our anxiety doubles.

So today, Valentines Day, a very ordinary event especially for those whose lovers are not with us physically, found solace in celebrating it with friends and in our case, housemates - just the 3 of us.

The video above summarizes how we did it. Thanks to another Filipina who understands that being away from home can be sad and lonely but food can always bring cheers. hahaha..

Thank you for the Dinuguan and Puto SweetD's Mandalay..

And for a sweet Valentine treat, Thank you Tr Grace for this  Chocolate... goes well with wine.. hahaha..

Happy Valentines Day everyone..

Apple Cider Vinegar

Would you drink ACV? Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother) is known to curb appetite. For more than 10 years my family has practiced it for many other benefits.
My was the first to try it and with the results he enjoyed, introduced the practice to us. I stopped taking when I couldn't get hold of Bragg's ACV. But now that I found it again, I am back to practicing it again.

Every morning, 2 capfuls of ACV is mixed to a glass of water. It's the first drink one should take on an empty stomach. Aside from curbing appetite, it also has other benefits.

Intermittent Fasting: My Second Attempt

Since the pandemic started, I have gained weight rapidly. And a week ago, I have finally started Intermittent Fasting again. I have done it before but due to some stress eating, I have stopped doing it. I found comfort in food as cooking and baking or even simple food preparations are my ways of relaxing.

So it started when I weighed myself again. But this time, I decided to finally pick up myself and do something about it. To help me in my journey, I have downloaded Fastic, an intermittent fasting app from PlayStore. It's quite good.

You can monitor weight too.
It also allows you to monitor your water intake and how much movement you are able to achieve. Plus, you can have buddies in the journey who will help and encourage you. And the best thing, there are lessons you learn to give you more information about your journey and what happens to your body.
Best of all, the food I eat when I break from fast, within my eating window, and the last meal before I start my next fasting time, are now all healthy and carbs all scraped from my plan. But with Fastic, it has also become yummy too. This  is good so people on Intermittent Fasting will not feel deprived while on the program.

I always look forward to creating healthy, carb-free meals and I actually crave proteins instead of sweets and carbs.. But of course, this is also effective if we do exercises and prayer & meditation.

Crossing my fingers.. Wish me luck.
