Coming home, old paintings by Kelly Ramos

Now on exhibit at the new gallery Carmen Art District in #20 Andres Fernandez corner V. Neri Streets in Barangay Carmen Cagayan de Oro City, Coming Home is a gathering of the works of art of Kelly Ramos in a span of two decades of artmaking. This little retrospective provides a rare opportunity to see the paintings together in one place.  It is a way to discover the artist’s development over time, and see the narratives she has chosen for her themes throughout the years.

The paintings on exhibit are borrowed from homes where they were already hanging on the walls of their owners. Some of the paintings were commissioned by the collectors, others used to be part of exhibitions, while yet some others were made by the artist with specific individuals in mind.

The show is made possible through the generosity of art collectors who have agreed to lend the paintings to Carmen Art District for the duration of the show. May the viewer enjoy the collection, now together for the first time in a gallery setting. The art exhibit is up until August 2023.

To visit, please get in touch with Kookie Montes Olario (09171146893) or Kelly Ramos (09276484552). You can also leave a message at the Carmen Art District Facebook page.

Carmen Art District

Carmen Art District is an artist-run space committed to providing a platform for emerging and established artists to showcase work, engage in critical discourse, and connect with a wider audience. We aim to foster a supportive and inclusive environment in our local community that encourages artistic experimentation and innovation. The space envisions to create a vibrant and dynamic hub for creativity and artistic expression free from the constraints of commercial art markets, to be a space where artists and art enthusiasts alike come together to explore, learn, and grow while cultivating meaningful connections. The goals of the art space is to curate and present a diverse range of exhibitions and events that reflect the interests and concerns of our local community and beyond, to provide artists with the resources, facilities, and support needed to create and exhibit work, to offer educational programs, workshops, and mentorship opportunities that promote artistic development and engagement with the wider community, to facilitate community engagement through artist talks, panel discussions, and community events, and to collaborate with local organizations, businesses, and institutions to promote the arts and create meaningful connections within our community.

Thus far, we have mounted our inaugural exhibit during women’s month for artists from Iligan, Lugait, Cagayan de Oro, and Villanueva, played host to local theater group Oro Teatro Bulawanon as rehearsal and workshop space, opened our doors to visiting artists and art enthusiasts from Iligan, Cebu, and Manila as well as to local writers and artist friends, walk-ins, and neighborhood children. In celebration of the Carmen Fiesta this July, we are having a day-long art workshop for Carmen kids, a mural making activity; and a series of summer art workshops in theater, writing, and art from July 26 to 28. Also in the works is the Pureza Neri Ramos Research and Resource Center (PNR3 Center) for writings in culture and the arts in Cagayan de Oro City and Northern Mindanao.  Please feel free to contact Kookie Montes Olario (09171146893), Kelly Ramos (09276484552), or the Carmen Art District Facebook page.

Philippine Ballet Theatre open their 37th season with a brand-new full length Filipino ballet entitled “Ibalon”

Philippine Ballet Theater has a mission to relay age-old tales of the Filipino people reflecting our country’s culture. They aspire to create and perform stories deeply rooted in our heritage. PBT will open their 37th season with a brand-new full length Filipino ballet entitled “Ibalon”. Lifting from the well-known Bicolano epic “Ibalon”, Artistic Director and Choreographer Ronilo Jaynario focuses on the love story of Handyong (The Warrior) and Oryol (The Cursed Creature). Jaynario emphasizes that his choreography is a reimagination of a love story against a backdrop of Philippine mythology. Indulging in creative liberties he created nuances and plot twists to make the story a powerful display of love in movement. He hopes to leave his audience captivated with colorful dances inspired from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
This story will be luxuriously told with original music by Paulo Zarate. Zarate explains that in creating the music, his approach was an exaggeration of what the music would have sounded like in ancient times. Filipino instruments in that period were more percussive and rhythmic. He took this into consideration but added bold and moving melodies, incorporating details of Filipino elements that he researched on, to make the music more epic. Zarate wanted to create music that would have a theatrical or cinematic effect on the audience, pushing them at the edge of their seat in excitement or sweeping them into the love story of Handyong and Oryol.
Matthew Davo as the warrior Handyong and Eloisa Jessa Tangalin as the cursed princess Oryol will take you on a voyage into the heart of our culture and history. With PBT’s rising stars, the story telling of our ancestral stories will come alive with music and dance.

Together, Jaynario and Zarate wanted to leave a lasting imprint in Philippine Dance history. Nobody talks about old Filipino stories anymore, but creativity can change that. Something new and something old can create beautiful captures of our culture. PBT’s “Ibalon” runs from July 28, 2023, to July 29, 2023, at the beautiful Samsung Theater. All proceeds from July 29 will benefit the fundraising campaign for the 65th Anniversary of the Ramon Magsaysay Awards.

Guess What? This Home Appliance Is The Most Popular Mother's Day Gift of 2023

May is upon us again, which only means that the spotlight shines extra bright once more for our moms as we celebrate Mother’s Day. If you’re thinking of the right surprise to give to the number one lady in your life, then we’re here to give you a clue. It starts with an A and ends with an R. It’s a kitchen favorite, one that will help our number one chef flex her amazing cooking skills.
It’s Air Fryers! At least according to the latest data from OnBuy which has reported a big surge of sales on this nifty appliance weeks before the annual celebration of Mother’s Day. This kitchen must-have has boomed in popularity in the last couple of years and for good reasons. In this article, we’ll walk you through all its benefits by putting the focus on one of the most powerful models in the market: The Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer.
Below are all the reasons why you should #BringBrevilleHome.
1. Air frying is a better alternative to traditional deep frying.
When you deep fry, oil is heated into high amounts that can lead to increased concentrations of inflammatory compounds that are absorbed by the food. With air frying, you minimize the use of oil or can even entirely remove it. The way it works is that it uses convection heat to cook food, similar to the way a fan oven works.
2. It can help you cook healthier versions of your favorite fried dishes.
Regular consumption of deep-fried food has been known to be correlated to the development of chronic ailments like cardiovascular disease. The use of convection heat to fry can create the same crispy exterior that we all love so much from our favorite fried treats. The result is healthier versions of meals with lower saturated fat that are better for our diets.
3. It’s versatile!
The versatility of this kitchen partner is something all cooking aficionados will definitely appreciate. The Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer is a perfect example of this. On top of having a dedicated air frying setting, this unit from the premium home lifestyle brand comes with nine other cooking functions which include toast, roast, bake, crumpet, and even pizza. It’s like having 10 appliances, all in one powerful model.
4. It’s perfect for busy bees.
Talking about power, the Smart Oven Air Fryer is also ideal for anyone who wants to be efficient with cooking. Its dual-speed convection feature reduces cooking time by 30 percent which is perfect for all busy moms out there.
5. It’s very user-friendly.
Air frying food is a no-brainer because you can easily pick settings for your recipe. The Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer takes this a notch higher with its Element IQ System which has a smart algorithm that creates the ideal cooking environment for a range of different cooking techniques. Forget about cold, uneven spots and ideal rack positions. This air fryer does it all for you and more, regardless of your cooking skills.
This Mother’s Day, give the gift of innovation to the special woman in your life by turning their dream kitchen into a reality. We already know that our moms are geniuses when it comes to creating meals that we love, but it doesn’t hurt to bring home an equally smart partner that can help them make even more cooking wonders. If you’re into it, you can even go the extra mile and take a crack at cooking by bonding with her to make your own Mother’s Day feast.
It’s time to #BringBrevilleHome this Mother’s Day. Want to know more about the Smart Oven Air Fryer? Visit their website to get the full deets about this appliance. Don’t forget to also follow their official Facebook and Instagram to get updated on their other releases.

One Meralco Marks Earth Day 2023 with Two Million Nurtured Trees

One Meralco has marked a significant milestone in its sustainability journey with the successful planting of over two million trees across the country as the world celebrates Earth Day 2023.
A total of 2,037,450 trees have been planted and nurtured in different parts of the country under the One for Trees environmental advocacy program led by One Meralco Foundation (OMF), the corporate social responsibility arm of Meralco.
According to OMF President and Meralco Chief Corporate Social Responsibility Officer Jeffrey O. Tarayao, the successful planting and nurturing of over two million trees is a testament to the power of grassroots partnerships to impact lasting change.
“One for Trees goes beyond reforestation and embraces sustainability by working with communities to ensure that the trees they plant will also benefit their own families,” Tarayao said.
The One for Trees program, Tarayao explained, advocates multi-dimensional sustainable solutions to address reforestation and environmental protection and conservation in the Philippines while empowering communities through economic and social development.
Since its launch in 2019, One for Trees has contributed to a greener future in different parts of the country including Bohol, Bukidnon, Aklan, Agusan del Norte, Pampanga, Bulacan, Laguna, Quezon City, as well as Panay, and Cebu, where reforestation sites of Global Business Power Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Meralco PowerGen Corporation, are located.
One for Trees also provides new sources of income for tree-farming families through partnerships with people’s organizations. These strategically contribute to the program’s aim to plant five million new trees by 2026 in biodiverse landscapes in the Philippines.
“Our reforestation efforts are in line with One Meralco’s wholistic approach to embed sustainability not just in our business operations, but also in the development of the communities we serve. As we continue to engage more stakeholders in environmental protection and conservation, we remain committed to helping ensure that the responsibility and benefits of investing in our planet is shared by all,” Meralco President and Chief Executive Officer and OMF Vice Chairman Atty. Ray C. Espinosa said.
Centered on preserving and protecting the planet, One for Trees is a key initiative under One Meralco’s sustainability agenda called “Powering the Good Life” which is deeply rooted in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Rex Education and PEAC Sponsor Future Teachers In ‘Edukampyon Iskolar Para Sa Kinabukasan’ Scholarship Program

This coming school year, 14 young and promising students will be pursuing teacher education and taking up the challenge to rekindle our aspiration of bettering lives through education.
Rex Education and the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) are sending 14 scholars to Centers of Excellence by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) under the PEAC–REX Edukampyon Iskolar Para Sa Kinabukasan Scholarship Program, an initiative that hopes to strengthen the quality of teachers in the country by seeking out and encouraging students to take teacher education programs in Mathematics and Sciences.
“Teaching is such a noble career—it is the profession that creates all other professions. But in reality, with a lot of career options to choose from, Education is not always the top-of-mind choice of students. Great teachers inspire great students. This is why we want to encourage the best and the brightest to work with us, commit to the profession, and start creating a ripple effect as we enhance teachers’ quality today,” said Don Timothy Buhain, chief executive officer of Rex Education.
Teachers are some of the most impactful champions of education—Edukampyons—since they are the closest to the students and can directly impact their education. The scholarship program, launched in October 2021, rings true to REX’s Edukampyon advocacy that aims to champion, strengthen, and advance teacher education.
The students who will receive scholarship grants and pursue their specialization in the Sciences from Ateneo De Naga are the following: Lellian Joy L. Alegre, Leschell Mae L. Llagas, Jyla Mir P. Dangca, April Mariella B. Nieves, Maia Niña T. Enimedez, Sheila May B. Ceguerra, Denise Angela P. Rebueno, Kazzandra Jhean R. Alvarez, and Ma. Bernadette Jane S. Aguay.
The students who will pursue their specialization in Mathematics from Ateneo De Naga are Florence M. Pangilinan and Jassi Mary E. Sayson.
Three students will also pursue specializations in Mathematics at Capitol University: Jenika Rosandra S. Diaz, James Elvin A. Ipulan, and Maria Ruth Precious O. Lindawan.
REX and PEAC hope that this batch of scholars under the PEAC–REX Edukampyon Iskolar Para Sa Kinabukasan will be the first of many, so that more students, Centers of Excellence, and other education champions contribute to the highest quality of teaching in the country.
“We want to champion teacher education. We want to make teaching an attractive proposition for our young. And at the same time, ensure that the program will have a very strong values formation program, so that our scholars will have a very strong sense of social responsibility and contribute to nation-building,” said Doris Ferrer, Executive Director of PEAC.
An effort to address the challenges faced by the education sector
The PEAC–REX Edukampyon Iskolar Para Sa Kinabukasan is one of the many efforts and collaborations REX enters into to help address the challenges faced by Philippine education.
“We all agree that the quality of teachers facilitating learning has to do a lot in making sure that the quality of education itself is also improved. So any intervention that is designed to provide the Department of Education (DepEd) with better inputs in terms of teachers will truly be a welcome contribution,” said Diosdado M. San Antonio, DepEd Undersecretary for Curriculum and Instruction.
International competitiveness reports and activities participated in by the Philippines in 2018–2019 suggest a big gap in quality that should compel critical attention from the government and the education sector.
In a study by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) in 2018, 81% of the 15-year-old Filipino students who were surveyed scored below minimum proficiency levels in reading, mathematics, and science compared to most countries that participated. Grade 4 students obtained the lowest scores in mathematics and science among the 58 countries surveyed by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement’s (IEA’s) Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) in 2019.
While limited resources and a challenging learning environment are realities many Filipino learners have to deal with on a daily basis, there is much to improve in terms of uplifting the quality of education that students receive. Quality teachers who nurture students at the basic education level can therefore have a ripple effect in improving Philippine education.
“Improving teacher quality in schools will mean attracting and selecting the best candidates into the teaching profession. To strengthen teacher quality, [we] should begin from selecting the right people into the profession. Policies in teacher recruitment and hiring should be aimed at increasing the attractiveness of the career, such as incentivizing high achievers to pursue teacher training and eventually enter into the profession,” read the World Bank Philippines Report 2021.
“This small act that we are doing at present, can have a great impact in all our futures. Invest in our teachers to-be today, so we can enjoy a bright and progressive tomorrow,” said Buhain.

Ride to commemorate Bataan Death March heroes slated on Araw ng Kagitingan

Ride for Valor, a bike-for-a-cause to raise funds for the maintenance of the Bataan Death March markers and other World War 2 heritage sites is slated on April 9, 2023 or Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor), also known as the 81st Anniversary of the Fall of Bataan and the start of the Death March.
Mike Villa-Real, Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB) first vice president for marketing and communications, said the event, in partnership with the Department of National Defense, Philippine Veterans Affairs Office, Provincial Government of Bataan and Wartime Heritage Guild-Philippines, aims to preserve the legacy of Filipino and American soldiers who fought for freedom and democracy during World War 2.
"The Bataan Death March is a somber reminder of the bravery and selflessness of Filipino veterans during the Second World War. It is an essential part of Philippine history and culture, and the Ride for Valor is an important way of honoring the veterans and preserving their legacy. Plus rider get to learn more about this historic event as they will be be traversing the actual route of the Death March," he said.
The ride is open to fully vaccinated cyclists and all types of bikes with brakes. Villa-Real said the event will start at 2:30 a.m. from the Kilometer Zero in Mariveles, Bataan, to Capas National Shrine in Tarlac.
The non-competitive bike ride will have four pitstops: Mt. Samat, Balanga Provincial Capitol’s The Bunker, San Fernando Train Station, and Angeles Museum. Giveaways will be given in selected pitstops. Villa-Real said participants may ride at their own pace, adding there will be a 12-hour cut-off during the event.
He noted that the event will also implement a "No Helmet, No Ride" policy to ensure the safety of the participants. Villa-Real also said a mechanic will be available to help those who encounter mechanical difficulties, while roving marshals will be present to keep track of the riders' progress. Support vehicles are allowed, but riders should only ride in the vehicle if they choose to drop out of the event.
The Bataan Death March is one of the darkest chapters in Philippine history, where around 80,000 Filipino and American soldiers were forced to march more than 100 kilometers in grueling conditions by Japanese forces in 1942. Thousands of soldiers survived but many also died due to starvation, dehydration, diseases, and the brutality of Japanese captors. The markers serve as reminders of the tragedy and heroism that occurred during that period.
PVB is a private, commercial bank owned by World War 2 veterans and their families. With Its new Charter signed into law, the Bank's ownership now includes Post War Veterans and AFP Retirees.
Ride for Valor 2023 is supported by Without Limits PH, Traqs Philippines, OneLGC, AIR21, Panahon.TV, and the Integrated Waste Management Inc, Neo Zigma PH, Hotel Sogo, The Oriental Hotel-Bataan, AFAB, Booster C Energy Shot, and Fitbar.

First Time : Glam and Fab and Dear Self Aesthetic and Wellness Center Give FREE Skin Treatment and Consultation

In partnership with Radyo Kalusugan, Glam and Fab and Dear Self Aesthetic and Wellness Center ‘s The Beauty Mission Dermatological Care, the clinic’s first-ever medical mission, was successfully conducted last February 8, 2023, in Payatas Bistekville 5 Covered Court.
With the objective to provide free basic skin treatment and consultation to those who are financially challenged, GNF and DS made sure to give top of the line services and skin and wellness guidance to everyone in attendance.

“We would like to provide aesthetic services to communities, with further focus on those who may not have access to these services due to financial difficulties,” Ms. Anne Garalde, Branch Owner and Medical Mission Project Manager, said.
This is also said to be a lot different from other medical missions being conducted in communities. “We know that there are a lot of agencies and companies who conduct medical missions already, we want ours to be different and to focus more on problems that are usually not addressed but definitely something to be discussed and cured,” Ms. Krystal Tecson- Garalde, founder of both brands, said in an interview.
Almost 500 individuals participated in the said medical mission. Each of them received free consultation and brought home free products based on the recommendation of the resident nurse and aestheticians to address specific concerns.
Moreover, participants also had sessions on proper skin care and nutrition-related topics to further promote health and wellness in their community.
“We are providing free skin consultation with the help of our professional aestheticians and registered nurses. We are also offering educational sessions on proper skin care and nutrition because we believe that these are critical components of skincare and wellness,” Ms. Anne Garalde added.
The first and definitely not the last
“Nagpapasalamat po kami sa Glam and Fab at Dear Self, sa pagpunta po nila sa lugar namin. Kakaibang medical mission po ito, so halos lahat kami dito gusto maexperience, sana po maulit po ulit,” Aling Pinky, one of the event participants, cheerfully responded when asked about  her reaction.

Overall, the event was well-received. Participants were very happy with the personalized attention and care provided by the professionals. Everyone left the medical mission feeling more confident and beautiful which is also one of the objectives of GNF and DS - to uplift everyone’s confidence in themselves through self-care.
“Their participation in this medical mission makes them one notch away from other boutiques and skin clinics,” Mr. Gil Aller, Host of Kalikasan at Kalusugan, Radyo Kalusugan, mentioned in their radio show last February 22, 2023.
Glam and Fab and Dear Self Aesthetic and Wellness Center's participation in medical missions stems from their belief in the importance of giving back to the community and helping those in need.
They plan to continue participating in medical missions and other community outreach programs in the future.

Intellectual property law enforcement, student academic groups, publishers sign statement of cooperation against content piracy

Rex Education hosted a press conference recently, bringing together key organizations committed to educating people about piracy and stopping the illegal reproduction and distribution of copyrighted content.
Present at the event were leaders and representatives from the Philippine Association of Law Schools, the Association of Law Students of the Philippines, , the Legal Education Board, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, the National Book Development Board, the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations of the Philippines, the National Bureau of Investigation, Association of Administrators in Hospitality Hotel and Restaurant Management Educational Institution, the Philippine Librarians Association, the Philippine Council of Deans and Educators in Business, the Philippine Association of Collegiate Schools of Business, Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators, Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines, Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities and the Philippine Educational Measurement and Evaluation Association.
Piracy is defined as the unauthorized reproduction and distribution of copyrighted content, including but not limited to books, movies, music, and the like. In the Philippines, anti-piracy legislation is strengthened by Republic Act 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines that protects and secures the exclusive rights of scientists, inventors, artists and other gifted citizens to their intellectual property and creations.
The press conference is a part of REX’s anti-piracy campaign, which was launched last September 16, 2022 at the Manila International Book Fair. The primary objective of the campaign is to curb, if not eradicate, content piracy by educating, communicating, and instilling among our colleagues, families, and children a true appreciation of the value of one’s own work. REX’s efforts in this direction are also in recognition and support of the relentless hard work of intellectual property law enforcement agencies in the country.
“We should continue to educate, communicate, and instill among our colleagues, families, and children a true appreciation of the value of one’s own work. In this sense, we are all duty-bearers. But above that, we are Filipinos,” said Atty. Dominador Buhain, chairman of Rex Education. “ Aside from our laws, what also binds us are our values, our sense of pakikipagkapwa, of  pagpapakatao, our pride in our own work, and our respect for each other and of each other’s work.”
Over the past year, the campaign has gained the attention of various organizations with similar sentiments. Stakeholders from the education sector, along with consumers and learners, have all come together to express their support for the movement. Above all, there is a call to protect creators and all their intellectual property in all its forms.
“Throughout our rich history, we recognize and respect one truth about what we do: We are able to accomplish so much because of our people. REX has immense pride for the talented and hardworking individuals who pour their creativity, knowledge, and skills in the development of our learning materials, and these are not limited to books,” said Atty. Dominador Buhain, chairman of Rex Education.

Henry & Sons to bring new life to local coffee market

Henry & Sons, the leading supplier of premium coffee products and services in the country, continues its mission to bring the local coffee industry to the international spotlight with their commitment to providing premium and quality education to aspiring baristas.
“With the rising demand for specialty coffee in the ever-growing coffee market, Henry & Sons is determined to provide aspiring baristas with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed,” said Michael Harris Conlin, Henry & Sons president and CEO.
Conlin said the company recently signed a memorandum of agreement with the National University Laguna to establish the Global Coffee School (GCS) in Calamba City.
GCS courses are recognized and offered in over 40 cities worldwide. The company provides comprehensive educational courses to equip aspiring baristas with the necessary skills and knowledge to create the best coffee products.
Courses include instruction on brewing methods and techniques, the science of coffee production, and different types of coffee drinks. Baristas will also be given hands-on experience with the most up-to-date coffee equipment, enabling them to develop their skills and gain the confidence needed to become top coffee professionals.
Conlin, a former Philippine National Barista Champion and semi-finalist in the World Barista Championship, said the collaboration aims to elevate Laguna Liberica to a global coffee brand and teach aspiring baristas in Laguna the skills they need to become sought-after in the coffee industry.
Last year, Conlin represented Laguna’s Liberica and Benguet’s Arabica at the Global Coffee Championship in Korea. Laguna’s Liberica won silver in the latte competition, while Benguet’s Arabica bagged bronze in the brewer competition.
According to experts, the Philippine coffee industry is expected to generate $6.3 billion this year or P345 billion.
Conlin, however, said 97% of the coffee in the country is imported.
“Our local coffee farmers do not benefit from the billions of revenue generated by the coffee industry. If this continues, Philippine-grown coffee is at risk of extinction. This is a loss not only for our economy but also for our culture and heritage,” he said.
Conlin noted that the program aims to help Mabato coffee farmers introduce their products to the international market and provide stability and sustainability for their livelihoods.
He also encouraged people to buy coffee sourced from local farmers to support them.
Recently, Henry & Sons’ opened two new branches of The Giving Café (TGC) at the University of the Philippines Los Baños and SM Marikina.
TGC is part of the company’s social enterprise program established to support the Foundation for Sustainable Coffee Excellence (FSCE) in its drive to make the Philippines a major player in the global coffee industry through sustainable local coffee farming.
The FSCE has been supporting farms in La Trinidad, Benguet, for some years now to help and provide farmers and their families with essential needs such as irrigation, medicines, and educational assistance.
Opened in July 2017, Henry & Sons opened TGC to provide a haven for coffee lovers. The café serves comfort food, such as champorado, sopas, and arroz caldo, and Chinese dishes, including yang chow, Taiwanese fried chicken, and sweet and sour pork.

Do you see what I see?

Living on the 6th floor has its perks. You can see so much compared to nothing but the streets when we were on the second floor. Take for example this beautiful sunset earlier.. The ocean is also seen from a distance but to capture the sunset, the buildings across will also flaunt their nakedness. My co-teacher once remarked that some buildings across show too much poverty. And he's probably right. But then again, with this beautiful sunset, you will never see anything else but it's mesmerizing gaze.

Thank you Universe 😊

Happy New Year

From my family to yours, Happy New Year.. May 2023 bring us all more than enough for our needs and wants, and that abundance will overflow for us to be able to give more for others..
Welcoming 2023 in a land far away from home.. cooked most of the food and did all the "palihi" with a twist.. of course New Year's Gongyo to welcome the new year with earnest prayer -- I believe in the power of prayer and gratitude more than anything..

Listening to our neighbours, wala man kisaw oi. Murag kami ra gani 3 ang mata hangtud kadlawon. Watched Alchemy of Souls before sleeping..

And just like that, 2023.. ordinary day to some people. So be grateful if you were/are still able to enjoy it as a free time/holiday and more if you are able to enjoy it with your loved ones..

Although  2022 was rather a challenging year for me, still I am grateful for it brought me to where I am now. May not be perfect, but a better place.. so since everything became better in the late part of 2022, my prayer is that things will continue to get better.. I pray for strength and more wisdom as I face another challenge this month of January - separation from my daughter as she will journey back home. But as moms, we must know when to let go and allow our children to move physically apart..

Still, Thank you Universe 😊
